Offshore Spring Series #3 Results
Wednesday May 14, 2014 09:12PM
onAnother very successful Offshore race day occurred on May 10th. Predicted weather was for 12 to 14k out of the southwest and the possibility of a few showers. Race #1 started with wind at the high end of the prediction and dropped down during the second windward leg. Race #2 brought more of the same conditions and a total of three drops of rain fell during the racing on this day. A big wind shift took place after the start of race #3 , resulting in a change mark being deployed at 270deg from the start area, this race was a 5 leg format thus a windward finish close to the mouth of Jackson Creek was to conclude racing for the day.
A total of 24 boats took part in race day #3. Seven J70's, six in PHRF A, five in PHRF B, three in PHRF C and three in N.S. Our thanks to the race management team led by Mike Toms, to the social arrangements by Glenn Doncaster and team Nanuq and to Andrea Zilinski Winner for providing a bunch of outstanding photographs. Folks like to see their boats and teams in action. The post race social broke up quickly as a result of an intense storm with strong wind and downpour. Bob and Lisa Fleck's boat Mad Hatter was secured to the dock on the Fishing Bay side and sustained significant damage. We wish them a speedy recovery.
Offshore race day #4 is this Saturday May 17th. Ya'll come on out and join in the fun.
