Opening Day Race Committee

onWe continue to make progress in staffing our race Committees so that members who want to race are not recruited for this duty. But members who choose not to race can share in the on the water excitement with minimal preparation and get back to shore before most of the particiants. But most importantly, those who do race committee duty provide a service that allows others to race, and equally important complete one of the two duty days we ask all members to give each year. Please say yes when a race committe chairperson asks for our help, you'll enjoy your day on the water.
For Opening Day we have a mix of experience levels with a group of volunteers looking forward to providing three good race courses, plus an opportunity for many of the racers to see the 2001 starting system first hand for a first time. But please read Allan Heyward's April Log article and do some homework before you get away from the dock.
Your Race Committee volunteers are David Hazlehurst, chair, Jeff Baechler, Tom Bliley, Jeff Hull, Frank Murphy, Sam Murphy, and Sam Stoakley, the only member I've met so far who insisted on being included, so he could get one of his duty days behind him early in the season.
