Last Saturday and Sunday, while the club’s keel boats were away racing in Hampton in the Southern Bay Race Week, the Opti and Laser Spring Race Teams held their final week end of practice for this season. The teams have had a great spring! A total of 19 of our juniors practiced or raced from March through May under the tutelage of Coaches Bobby Lippencott and Cori Radthke. ODT Coach Claire Lennarz also helped out for the final practices.

Besides being great fun, the fall and spring program has helped to lift our kids to new successes across the Bay and beyond. This spring four of our team members were invited to compete in international events representing the United States. Look for a full report about their incredible exploits in the coming week.
The FBYC Race Teams never let up-and never ease the sheet! This Laser lost its topmast on the final day of practice.
Next up for our racers-the Summer Race Teams start practice on June 13. At this time we have 46 individual juniors signed up for our four teams this summer! On the same day our next generation of sailors will begin their journey-when 42 kids aged 5 to 8 start Opti Kids; and later in June 46 additional kids will take Beginner Opti during Junior Week and August OptiKids in August. That means 88 new kids will start sailing this summer at FBYC!
