Racing Rules and Race Management Seminar
Monday March 14, 2005 12:19PM
onTwenty-eight stayed for the afternoon session on Race Management. The session focused on the mechanics leading up to the start of the race and the start itself. (I think I heard a hint that he might be willing to join us next year to discuss what happens after the start.) Communication, team work, ability to focus on the job, and cohesivness of the group were highlighted as keys to a good committee team. He also reminded us that the PRO's toughest job can be recruiting his/her team. (Call a PRO and volunteer today!)
It was a long day -- 9:00 to 4:30 -- but one attendee said it best, "I learned so much, I couldn't believe it was 4:30."
Our many many thanks go to John and his wife Lin for treking up from their home in Hampton to provide this service to the Fishing Bay racing community. Additional thanks go to Strother Scott and Scott & Stringfellow for the venue and Eric Powers for the overhead projector.
