Racing Rules Clinic, Tuesday, April 1st, 6:30pm at The Mariner's Museum

Racing sailboat skippers, crew, friends, and interested parties will gather at The Mariners Museum (Newport News, VA) on Tuesday evening, April 1, for the annual Racing Rules Clinic sponsored by the Cruising Club of Virginia (CCV) and Hampton Yacht Club (HYC).
The guest clinician is what makes the 2003 version of the event especially inviting. Steve Hunt, the number 1 sailor (470 class) in the USA and front running contender for our countrys Olympic Team berth, along with his crew Mike Miller, will share his knowledge of rules and tactics as well as world sailing circuit experiences.Steve is a native son, and so is his crew Mike Miller, said CCV vice commodore John McCarthy, explaining that Hunt grew up in Poquoson and has special ties to the HYC junior sailing program.
Hunt and Miller just missed by one spot the berth in the last Olympic Games (2000 in Sydney, Australian) and have dedicated the intervening four years to representing the USA in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, McCarthy said. Michael Miller hails from Richmond, Virginia, and came through the Fishing Bay Yacht Club junior sailing program in Deltaville on the Rappahannock River. The two sailed together on the College of Charleston (SC) nationally recognized intercollegiate sailing team, where Hunt twice earned All American honors. Both Steve and Michael have a special bond with sailing in this part of the Chesapeake Bay, McCarthy said, and we are especially fortunate to have them take time from their busy international competition schedule to be with us for the Racing Rules Clinic.
