Rebuilding and clean-up
Tuesday September 23, 2003 12:01PM
onFor this coming weekend all racing has been cancelled and all members are invited to the club to help clean up debris and repair docks starting at 8.30 am Saturday. After two days of concerted effort we will be in a much better position to decide on whether we can hold any more races in 2003 for trailered One Design boats starting on October 4. But an announcement on the schedule, for both the One Design, Junior and Off-shore Divisions will be made next Monday, September 29.
In the meantime members are asked to plan on being at the club ready to start help resurrect the east and Fishing Bay docks, and clean up the grounds early Saturday morning. You should bring your own sandwiches, drinks and a cooler of ice as well as rakes and other tools. One of our newest members has already called offering to bring a chain saw and a generator. And our Manager is working on getting Porta Johns to serve in the abscence of power and water. Eric Powers, who made a living building docks in a former life, has volunteered to lead the dock rebuilding effort and has put in two days hard labor on the Jackson Creek side. He is also arranging for the necessary boards hardware to be available. Bring your hammers and wrecking bars.
What we are able to salvage of the best of all racing seasons, the Fall, will depend on how much progress we make next weekend. Please make every effort to attend, and after the clean up session is declared over, take time out to put your mast up and get ready for the following weekend. All efforts will be welcomed.
