onNo this isn't a trailer for the next installment of "Star Wars" but it was the return of our FBYC Optimist team to Severn Sailing Association for their second regatta with that club's juniors this season. Many of the northern Bay's top junior sailors were in attendance as five of FBYC's Junior teammates made the trek to Annapolis this past weekend to meet the 33-boat Optimist fleet for this latest match in Severn Sailing Association's End of the Summer Optimist Regatta. Nine races were sailed over the two-day match that tested each sailor's skills over a wide range of conditions from a near drifter on Saturday to choppy seas and 15+ knot winds on Sunday.
Madeleine Alderman and Austin Powers picked up the 5th and 7th place overall slots respectively and both took home silver for 3rd in their respective Red and Blue Fleets. FBYC sailors Alex Jacob and his sister Erin, both sailing under the AYC burgee, pulled a 4th and 16th overall. In terms of overall improvement this season, the star of the show had to be Graeme Alderman who was 13th overall and 1st in the 11-boat White Fleet. Eric and Conrad Roos continued their climb up into the fleet with an 8th and 9th in their respective White and Blue Fleets. This was the team's eleventh regatta of the season.
