Both images were taken from The Fleet Tracking web site for the Rolex Transatlantic Race. and both images represent the tracks of the various competitors in the transatlantic race.
The first image is the track of the Sailing Vessel Stad Amsterdam chartered by the Storm Trisail Club. Detailed inspection of the second image reveals that the Stad Amsterdam is the westernmost boat in the race, and apparantly sailing Southwest, while the rest of the fleet seems to be headed southeast - in search of the gulf stream to help carry them to the finish line, which is north and east.
On board Stad Amsterdam are FBYC members Gary Jobson and Jim Rogers. Apparantly, the vessel does not perform well is light air upwind conditions.
We wish them well, and we were glad to learn that there are 4 bartenders on Stad Amsterdam - more people than man any other crew position on the boat.
It will be a lot more fun for our friends when the wind picks up, and enables thenm to increase their boat speed from the average 2.1 knots experinced since the start. After all, the leaders are going 15 knots!
