WARE RIVER GOVERNOR'S CUP REGATTA
The Ware River Governor's Cup Regatta is this weekend. Ware River is just south of FBYC near Mobjack Bay. It's about a 40 minute drive from the club and about the same distance from Richmond. This is a two day regatta and the fleet with the most boats wins the Governors cup. This is a great opportunity to tune-up for our annual regatta in a couple weeks sail at a laid-back low-pressure event. I'll be there and hope others will be there as well. Let me know if you are planning on attending jon@laserdistrict11.org

FBYC ANNUAL REGATTA
The 70th Annual One Design Regatta and VA Junior State Championship will be held at FBYC August 15-16, 2009. The club has a great dinner and entertainment lined up for Saturday night so be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible. It also helps so show those who are on the fence about coming that we'll have a great turnout if everyone who knows they are coming will get their name on the entry list.

4 Lasers took part in the July 4 Long Distance Race. Another sailed the course, but with a spinnaker rigged to the laser 1 and wasn't racing. Steve Swenson was the first Laser to finish and was 5th overall. He was followed (by lasers) by Brad Squires, Jeremy Waters and Jon Deutsch

2009 SANDY MACVICKAR JUNIOR REGATTA
Twenty-Seven Laser Radials were racing near Annapolis last Thursday in the 2009 Sandy MacVickar Junior Regatta. It was a clean sweep for the Fishing Bay Yacht Club Sailors who took 1st through 6th place. Alex Jacob finished first overall with 3 bullets in 5 races. He was followed by Kyle Swenson and Austin Powers.
When asked about the regatta Alex Jacob said "It started out very windy and died down to nothing. I knew I need to beat Kyle Swenson in the last race and somehow I did."
Matt Schoene (SSA) also found the wind to be a little challenging The breeze was clocking to the right the entire day, but somehow the left side of the first beat always paid off big.
Congratulations to all of the sailors on an event well sailed. Good luck on the rest of the junior circuit later this summer Jon Deutsch with reports compiled from Alex Jacob, Matt Schoene and Madeleine Alderman.

There were 3 Summer Seabreeze race days in June and July. There were a handful Lasers at the first event, the second event was not sailed by lasers due to the weather, and I'm not sure what happened at the 3rd race day this past weekend. Results for all 3 events have not yet been posted to the website.
