The YAMs had an epic inaugural derby day picnic this past Saturday, entertaining 35+ attendees of all ages ranging from 1 to 50+. Sporting dapper pastels and big dazzling hats, the YAMs began assembling at 1pm in the club’s upstairs for a roaring day of good friends, classy tunes and some good ‘ol fashioned horse races.

Overall the day was highlighted by delicious dishes, tasty signature cocktails, a build-your-own derby hat & sash station, and a compliment of lawn & table games for the kids. Besides the general merriment of the group as a whole, it was clear that everyone is excited to be welcoming warmer weather for the summer sailing season.

FBYC Pool Lifeguard Shortage Next Two Weeks

Keith B Hennessey on

Clubhouse News
Due to a lifeguard shortage, we are asking FBYC parents not to count on pool lifeguards being in attendance the next 2 weekends/weeks  - which includes the Labor Day Weekend.  We expect parents, or responsible adults, to monitor pool activities and maintain a safe environment for the children and no children to be left unattended.

Thank you.

YAM Holiday Gathering a Jolly Success!

Social Events

This past Saturday approximately thirty members and their guests rallied for Richmond's annual Christmas Parade, followed shortly thereafter by a warm holiday gathering hosted by YAM Committee Members Arch and Katie Durham. Despite a little mist in the air attendance was strong at the parade where children were elated to see the 'Big Guy in Red' welcome them with waving arms and joyous cheer. The gathering afterwards was absolutely wonderful...a beautifully decorated home packed full of tasty holiday treats and seasonal beverages for all to share.  Sincerest thanks to all who came to enjoy the day and especially to our gracious host family, the Durhams!

Junior Week and Summer Junior Programs Update

Jason Angus on

Junior Activities

Not knowing the future, we will continue to take registrations for our summer Junior programs and certainly hope that we can provide them as planned. We will know more in the weeks to come and will communicate any changes as we learn of them.

Our goal is to continue to focus on providing the very best summer experience for our young sailors while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for them and their families and for the local community. In the event we are forced to cancel any summer programs, we will be providing a full and complete refund. Our goal is to make this decision by June 1st should we have to.

Again, with Junior Week almost 2 1 …

Club News

I am completely amazed how rich the "Corinthian spirit" has been at our club and how many members are volunteering for our upcoming two day regatta.  After a year of being bound by a computer our kids finally have the opportunity to be on the water again to represent our amazing sailing program and club.  We are hosting the Virginia State Championship which is also the season opener for CBYRA.  With registration open for about a month we have been successfully amassing an army of volunteers to serve over 100 sailors along with their family and friends.  As far as the eye can see will be an armada of kids geared and ready to give it their all June 26-27th …
