FBYC Crew returns from NYYC Cruise in Maine

On August 9-14, 2015, Rives Potts, a FBYC member, and currently the Commodore of the New York Yacht Club, invited some FBYC members to crew for him on the New York Yacht Club's 159th Annual Cruise in Maine.  Each Commodore decides where he wants his Cruise to go, and Rives decided his first Cruise would start at Rockland, Maine, and sail to SW Harbor on Deer Isle, then to Pretty Marsh, and Bucks Harbor and then to a Lay Day in Belfast before returning Rockland via to Gilkey Harbor on Islesboro.  His usual race boat Carina, was still in Europe following the Transatlantic Race, so Rives persuaded a friend to let us race his Swan 56 Elysium …

FBYC Kid's 'Kruise' Aug. 1-2. 2015

This year our primary destination will be Little Bay, a relatively short cruise just above the Rappahannock River.  There we will raft up during the day, and dinghy into the beach for various games. In case of inclement weather, we will head for the Piankatank and quieter water.

Friday night, we will gather at our Deltaville cottage (76 Sunrise Point, on left after you turn left at Ruark's Marina) at 5:30 PM on Jackson Creek, for hamburgers, hotdogs and the fixings. Each participating boat will be asked to bring a side dish. Soft drinks, juice, wine and beer will be provided.

On Sat., lunch will be on your own.  …

Club News

I am completely amazed how rich the "Corinthian spirit" has been at our club and how many members are volunteering for our upcoming two day regatta.  After a year of being bound by a computer our kids finally have the opportunity to be on the water again to represent our amazing sailing program and club.  We are hosting the Virginia State Championship which is also the season opener for CBYRA.  With registration open for about a month we have been successfully amassing an army of volunteers to serve over 100 sailors along with their family and friends.  As far as the eye can see will be an armada of kids geared and ready to give it their all June 26-27th …
