So far so good this hurricane season, keep your fingers crossed and if a named storm aims for the Southern Chesapeake,  here are some words of wisdom to aid you in your planning.   Hurricane season in the Atlantic ends June  ends November 30th.

hurricaneirene.jpgThe current storm track for Hurrican Irene shows it passing just to the east of the Virginia Coast on Sunday.  Although we will likely be spared the worst of it, we are still expecting severe conditions.

Just a reminder that all slip holders should make plans to reinforce all dock links and are responsible for their boats and any damage they cause.  FBYC does not have the resources nor responsibility to look after all of the boats at our docks.  The same is true for any boats in the dry sail lot and small boat parking lot - please secure your boats well ahead of the storm.

I am completely amazed how rich the "Corinthian spirit" has been at our club and how many members are volunteering for our upcoming two day regatta.  After a year of being bound by a computer our kids finally have the opportunity to be on the water again to represent our amazing sailing program and club.  We are hosting the Virginia State Championship which is also the season opener for CBYRA.  With registration open for about a month we have been successfully amassing an army of volunteers to serve over 100 sailors along with their family and friends.  As far as the eye can see will be an armada of kids geared and ready to give it their all June 26-27th …
