Calling all Fishing Bay females! New event for 2017. 2 weeks away! 

A morning sailing/ racing clinic for women of all degrees of experience and age, with a combination of classroom learning and on-the-water time. Continued coaching during the afternoon Seabreeze regatta (optional but recommended). The clinic will have 2 class offerings: Beginning Sailing and Advanced Racing. SheJumps is a national organization that supports women being active and outdoors. The regional coordinator approached Kim and Caroline Garrett to see if we would help host a SheJumps event at FBYC. On September 10th, we hosted the event, which involved a morning chalkboard session followed by an afternoon on the water. 

During our morning session, the ladies learned how to tie basic knots, sailing terminology, parts of the boat, the points of sail diagram, and general rules of the water. With the help of Carrie Russell as the third skipper, we showed the ladies how to rig a Front Runner, and we set sail for the afternoon.

I am completely amazed how rich the "Corinthian spirit" has been at our club and how many members are volunteering for our upcoming two day regatta.  After a year of being bound by a computer our kids finally have the opportunity to be on the water again to represent our amazing sailing program and club.  We are hosting the Virginia State Championship which is also the season opener for CBYRA.  With registration open for about a month we have been successfully amassing an army of volunteers to serve over 100 sailors along with their family and friends.  As far as the eye can see will be an armada of kids geared and ready to give it their all June 26-27th …
