The Wee Dram will again venture to Cape Charles, VA on August 12th…their slips are a confirmed 18’ depth. We have reserved ‘C’ dock at the Town Harbor and if we should need more slips, those are available. https://www.capecharlesharbor.com/facilities/
This remains a casual cruise/race format with a formal (shorts and tee shirts – no holes) social Saturday afternoon in Cap Charles.
To emphasize the cruising aspect of the ‘getting there’, and to assure a worthy recipient of the 2017 Wee Dram burgee, each boat will submit two scavenger hunt tickets naming items typically found on a proper cruising vessel…i.e. in-boom furling, electric winch, a third anchor, water maker, microwave, rail mounted grill, dingy …

This past Sunday the Young Adult Members (YAMs) gathered for a wonderful Sunday cruise to brunch at Matthews Yacht Club. Departing Jackson Creek at 0900 aboard past Commodore Lud Kimbrough’s Grady White ‘Daddy-O’. While underway, the group of 11 shared stories, made new friends, and soaked in the gorgeous sunny day while enjoying mimosas courtesy of Jon Deutsch.
Upon arrival into Hudgins Creek, the group was greeted with open arms and welcoming hospitality of MYC’s incredible staff. Between the servers’ southern charm and extensive menu of delicious brunch items at very reasonable prices, we simply couldn’t have asked for more. This club sure does know how to cook and treat its guests!

The first Open House Regatta & Party was a huge success. Thanks to all of the organizers and volunteers for making it happen. We had racing, raft up, dinner and a great band/party on day with beautiful weather.

In spite of what you may see on the FBYC website, registration for the Bermuda High Party is OPEN and has been EXTENDED to Friday March 23, at 9am. Please register online by Friday at 9am so we can give our caterer an accurate headcount. You won’t want to miss this! Veronica and David Hinckle have opened their lovely home to us. We can at least pretend it is warm out, right? We’d love to see all of our friends at the party!
Light breeze may have truncated the number of races in our Stingray Point Regatta; however, the conditions could not have been more ripe for a front lawn cornhole tournament this past Sunday. Members, guests and teams of all ages from traveling yacht clubs showed up in droves to register their teams and get into the the action...all in all we had a full bracket of 16 teams and a tremendous group of onlooking spectators.
As we worked through the bracket in single-elimination fashion down to our final four, eventually the island mood-setting reggae tunes turned to amateur comedic commentary over the PA-system...it felt a little like watching Wimbledon play-by-play analysis performed by Will Farrell and Jimmy Fallon wannabes …
