Thanks to the Stingray Point Regatta Committee for a well-done event!

onSaturday featured lots of good racing, lots of wind, and lots of RAIN. We all need the rain so there were no complaints. The committee had divided the entries into 2 fleets. Lud Kimbrough ran the smaller boats - 6 J-24s, 6 MORC and 5 PHRF-C boats. David Lee ran the bigger boat course using Mr. Roberts and there were 7 PHRF-A0 boats, 9 PHRF-A1 boats, 9 PHRF-B boats, and 7 PHRF-Non-Spin boats. Both fleets got in the proscribed 3 races on Saturday and 2 on Sunday in 15-20 knot steady winds.
The winner of the Halsey trophy was Rusty Burshell on Cool Change. He received 5 firsts and is shown receiving the award from Brent Halsey, III, Ali Halsey, Philip Halsey, and Christian Halsey, the children of Brent Halsey, Jr.
Results and Additional Photographs (thanks to Dick Cole), are available on-line.
After each day's racing, club volunteers manned the Mt. Gay Rum tents and everybody enjoyed the festivities and the new clubhouse. It worked very well absorbing and feeding the numerous soaking wet racers. For the first time in recent memory the dance floor was absolutely packed right up to the closing bell at 11PM.
Teams from Hampton Yacht Club and Fishing Bay competed for the Potts Southern Bay Challenge Trophy. Hampton Yacht Club won the trophy for the 10th consecutive time. Congratulations to Bumps Eberwine on Sea Star and the rest of the Hampton team.
Many thanks to Mike Karn, Event Chair, Paul Howle, Kelly O'Toole, and Lori Moyer (his right hand men and women) and his other assistants on land. Thanks to the many members who staffed the beer trailer and the Rum Tent and did other duties. And many thanks to those on the water, led by David Lee and Lud Kimbrough, but they also had about 15 people on about 6 boats moving and setting marks, keeping up with the starting lines and finishes. You all made the regatta one of the best in recent memories. Please join me in sending thanks to stingray@fbyc.net
Thank you.
