Hello to everyone again. This is to invite you and members of your clubs to our upcoming seminar this Saturday which is designed to further knowledge about navigation, chart reading and first aid. There is no charge. If you think your members could benefit from this one or would simply enjoy solving navigation problems in the safety of experienced instructors, please pass the following information on to them. Again, thank you for your help and cooperation.

Seminar Notice:
If your navigation chart often disagrees with where you think you are, and you’re not sure of exactly how you got there in the first place, then this next seminar is definitely for you. “Navigation and the Rules of the Road” will be presented at the YPYC clubhouse this Saturday, March 7, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Instructors are Wally Dawson, local Coast Guard Flotilla Commander; Joe Dropp, retired NOAA Ship Captain; and Dr. John Hoekstra, an MD and Coast Guard Licensed Captain.
They plan to present a practical navigation problem set in local waters and then work with you in solving it. Along the way, they’ll cover such items as reading and interpreting basic nautical charts, GPS systems and data, flashing green and red lights, navigation markers that have no lights, and first aid tips and requirements.
The seminar is expected to last until approximately 2:30 p.m. and lunch will be provided for a nominal charge. Please contact John Henley at 804-435-6550 or johnauburn@aol.com for more details. In the meantime, enjoy the snow!
