The Urbanna Race is the the first leg of this year's Long Distance Series. The series' winners in each participating class will get a worthy award consisting of a Weems and Plath gimbal mounted lamp and placque, so, get off to a good start in the Series this weekend and/or at least assure your chances over the duration by at least competing on Saturday. These four races are a good test of local knowledge and a little more challenge to seamanship and strategy, so besides a nice trophy, some unique Club pride goes to the winners!
Strother Scott, Jr. and Lina have agreed to run shuttle service for us after the race on Saturday, as they did last year. As we all know gas isn't cheap and they deserve rewards for their efforts, so, besides "thank you's", tips for their time and service are the least we can do. Open up your wallets!!!
RRYC is acting PRO for the races on Sunday, and as such, are responsible for the final NOR's/SSI's. The instructions for the Sunday races essentially parallel those in our event book (Non-Spin though will have both one and two headsail classes), but there are additional instructions if you have need for dock space, etc. Their instructions are the official ones and are attached.
Please, join in the social cookout they are hosting at RRYC after the racing on Sunday. The format for this is: bring one dish to share with others, and bring your own meat for grilling.
Have a great sailing weekend!! Randy
