Weather Update: Hurricane Michael (Updated 10/12 at 11:30 AM)
Friday October 12, 2018 11:54AM
onHurricane Michael has come & gone. The wind & rain were as bad as predicted. But no facility damage has been found & we are in recovery mode. Please note:
POWER – We are without power & no timetable for restoration has been provided. We are prepared to power the water plant. But please use water sparingly.
FISHING BAY ROAD – The road is covered with up to 8 inches of bay water.
BUILDINGS – The Clubhouse & Fannie’s will reopen. The Bathhouse will be locked & unavailable for use until water power is restored.
DOCKS – Electricity has been shut off to ALL DOCKS until power is restored to the facility. Water remains off to all docks as well. We are replacing the missing boards. But please walk the docks carefully as they are still slippery.
CLUB BOATS – None of the Race Committee, Juniors’, or Sailing boats have apparent damage. Club sailing boats will be unavailable for use until all other recovery tasks are complete.
FURNISHINGS – The grills, hoses, and dock carts are being returned & will be available today. All Gas lines remain off.
PERSONAL BOATS – Some members’ boats have sustained damage. I have contacted the owners of any boats with apparent damage.
EVENTS – The Laser Masters’ is still being held this weekend. Stay tuned for other event updates.
I will provide Club updates on the FBYC News Page and on Facebook as recovery efforts progress.
Please be safe out there,
- Brian James Ankrom, FBYC Manager
