Website New Search Capabilities

onUpdated from last week. The new website now includes a powerful Search feature. You will see a magnifying glass on the top right hand corner or next to your name if logged in. If you click on Search magnifying glass, it will expose three categories of search. Many searches, like for Member names, will require login.
Member and Yacht search replace our old Member database search. Each member can have a profile and boat picture, we encourage you to click on your name, to edit your profile by adding pictures.
Pages search will find pages that include the “word” you search for. Because we have over 5,000 pages, counting pages for each event and results over 15+ years, you might find 100’s of pages if you use a frequently used word. The search result page will give you a link to each page, and some information about the page, including the first few sentences on the page. Unlike google search, it does not necessarily display the words surrounding your search word.
If logged in, pages search will find Member and Board only pages. You still may not be able to view them if you don’t have the permissions. Those pages can not be seen by Google search engines.
Pages search uses out of the box functionality of our new Content Management System. It is not clear how the CMS Search decides the order of Search Results except some measure of relevance. I don’t plan to customize it unless there is demand for an even more powerful search functionality.
We also have a search capability on Tags. Go to https://fbyc.net/pages/tags/ and click on the tag that might find what you want. We have been very inconsistent in the use of tags, so I do need to add tags to many pages.
For those who are confused by our navigation scheme, search offers another way to find what you are looking for.
