PARKING
With 400 people expected at the club this weekend, we need your help with parking so that we make efficient use of our parking space and so that at no time do we block our neighbors from travelling along Fishing Bay Road. Carpooling is highly encouraged.
Please follow all signs and park only in designated areas. Please park your cars closely together and don’t leave any extra space between them. Remember that people will be using their boats this weekend so don’t block any boats unless directed to do so. As always, there is NO parking along Fishing Bay Road.
If you have a boat on a trailer that you are not using, please park in your reserved spot in front of your boat. If you are sailing a trailered boat, please return your car + trailer to it’s space while you are sailing.
REGISTRATION
Anyone wishing to register to race or change anything about their registration can come to Mr Roberts at its slip between 0930 and 1000.
Dinner tickets can only be picked up at the registration table at the main club house starting at 1700 (they will not be available in the morning).
SKIPPERS MEETING
Will be held at the creek side flag pole at 1000 for all competitors. After initial remarks the optis will break away to complete their meeting.
COMMUNICATION
The RC boats, Mr. Roberts and Wildcat RC, will be monitoring VHF-FM channel 72. Everyone (except optis) should have a radio (including the less than 22 foot fleet - if at all possible).
RACE START
The race format for the Open House regatta will be a staggered start with two separate sequences.
Tables with starting time will be posted on the FBYC site prior to 1600 on Friday 5/23.
This email has modifications to the sailing instructions and some skipper’s meeting type information:
The start times for the fleets are as follows:
- <22 foot fleet scratch boat start will be signaled at 1115 using the #4 pennant. This is the time that the slowest boat of this fleet crosses the line.
- +22 foot fleet scratch boat start will be signaled at 1130 using the #2 pennant. This is the time that the slowest boat of this fleet crosses the line.
- This changes the sailing instruction. A notice will be posted.
OPTIS: Will have a first start at 1100 in Fishing Bay
COURSES
The race course is as follows:
- <22 foot fleet will sail course #4
- +22 foot fleet will sail course #2
- The first rounding mark (Piankatank River Dayboard #12) will be to taken to STARBOARD.
- This changes the sailing instruction. A notice will be posted.
- The start will be in Godfrey Bay south of Piankatank River Dayboard #12.
- The finish line will be a safe distance south of the FBYC Fishing Bay pier.
NOTE: Please honor red #8 when passing the shoal off of Stove Point (near the 8A nun). The depth between 8A and 8 is < 4’.
Optis will be racing drop-mark courses posted on the committee boat and discussed in the Opti Skippers meeting in Fishing Bay.
RACE FINISH
The race finish will be within sight of the dock in Fishing Bay. Non-racers will be able to watch the exciting finish as all boats finish in short succession. The finish will be followed by a sunflower raft up.
SUNFLOWER RAFT UP
Following racing, boats larger than 22’ are invited to join the raft-up. We will be rafted up in a sunflower formation. Only Son, a deadrise crabbing vessel, will act as “base camp” in the raft-up. There will be FBYC-provided snacks and beverages onboard. Feel free to hop over to your friends’ boats too.
Please take your time and use care getting on and off the shuttle boat and other boats while enjoying the raft up. One hand for yourself, one for the boat!
All boats joining in the raft-up need to monitor VHF channel 72. Raft-up coordination will be led by Waddy Garrett, in a Grady White, FLURRY. Monitor the radio for instructions.
