onThis past Sunday the Young Adult Members (YAMs) gathered for a wonderful Sunday cruise to brunch at Matthews Yacht Club. Departing Jackson Creek at 0900 aboard past Commodore Lud Kimbrough’s Grady White ‘Daddy-O’. While underway, the group of 11 shared stories, made new friends, and soaked in the gorgeous sunny day while enjoying mimosas courtesy of Jon Deutsch.
Upon arrival into Hudgins Creek, the group was greeted with open arms and welcoming hospitality of MYC’s incredible staff. Between the servers’ southern charm and extensive menu of delicious brunch items at very reasonable prices, we simply couldn’t have asked for more. This club sure does know how to cook and treat its guests!
After their hearty meals the intrepid crew of YAMs set sail for Fishing Bay, where they spectated the exciting final races of the Junior Olympic Festival regatta. Breeze was up and the difficulty was clearly high as several 420s and Lasers were seen on their ears battling the heavy conditions. Once the racing wrapped up the YAMs returned to Jackson Creek. It was truly fun gathering and all participants had an absolute blast.
This was one of several open group events organized and led by the YAM group, and this brunch outing is sure to be a new tradition. Next month’s YAM focus will be in support and volunteering for the Leukemia Cup Regatta being hosted July 11-12. For anyone interested in joining the fun and meeting fellow YAMs, please get involved please keep your eyes open for YAM event notices in The Log, online, and through the club’s YAM listserv, and speak up by contacting the YAM organizers…we’d love to get more of you involved!
