Strother Scott on

Club News

January 12, 2007

Dear BoatU.S. Member,

We are writing to advise you that the Virginia Legislature will soon consider a bill, House Bill 1627, Boating Safety Education, that would require all motorboat and PWC operators to take a boating safety course and carry a certificate showing successful completion of a written test.

We have, however, asked for two clarifications: First, that if a boater has taken a course …

PHRF of the Chesapeake expects to mail out valid rating renewals the first week in January.  Best advice:  get your application for renewal back to PHRF immediately.  The closer we get to the opening of the 2007 season, the longer the process takes because of sheer numbers of applications.

This past week, CBYRA Vice President for  Region 4 (Southern Chesapeake Bay), Tom Roberts, was on hand for the scheduling meeting for region clubs and sailing associations.  It is expected that by the end of this week, club reps from both the North and the South Divisions of our region will have the finalized 2007 Handicap (PHRF) schedule from Region Scheduler Lin McCarthy.
