Fishing Bay Yacht Club was proud to participate in the Deltaville Heritage Day Parade on Saturday, July 2nd. Approximately 16 FBYC members turned out to represent our club; the kids had a blast throwing candy to the throngs of spectators lining Chesty Puller's highway. With a Laser focus and traditional 4th of July decorations, the parents and kids all helped to produce a stunning float.
On Sunday, the club held its first annual Family Fun Day. The day started with a non-traditional race. The kids began on land and sprinted to their rigged Opti’s and lasers on the beach. The sailing instructions called for a figure 8 course to be sailed. To finish …
The final three races of the One Design Spring Series were competed on Sunday July 3rd. It was a fun series with a variety of conditions that challenged the sailors and the race committees. The Front Runner fleet series champion is Matt Braun followed by Mark Stephens and Kevin Cross. Interesting NY Times article about the technology expected on the TV in the upcoming America's Cup races.
The Americas Cup, Translated for Television
By ANNE EISENBERG
THE yacht-club crowd may turn out to cheer at regattas, but sailboat racing hasnt been a big hit with mainstream television audiences perhaps because they have trouble following whats happening on the waves.
Experts in the sport may appreciate a helmsmans split-second tactical decisions or a crews athleticism, yet the drama often goes over the heads of landlubbers who dont know how points are scored, or even who is ahead.
Now technology may change that. Starting in August, a two-year series of regattas, culminating in the 34th …

In very trying conditions, they bested a field of heavy hitters, including Allan Terhune (2010 NAC Champion), David Neff, and John Aras/John Wake.
