We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Leap Day than holding this year's Winter Program in Deltaville on Saturday, February 29 from 2-4 pm at the FBYC Clubhouse. And there's no better person to start us off than the legendary boat builder Jim Brown of Tidewater, VA. Jim has been one of the world's leading multi-hull designers for over six decades. He's an accomplished teacher and author and member of the Cruising World's Hall of Fame. Along with his wife and children, Jim has traveled to numerous continents aboard his own designs, creating--and telling--a multitude of seafaring stories.
There will be a reception following Jim's presentation and we're suggesting a $10 donation at the door to support the …

We are all looking forward to spring and getting ready for sailing at FBYC. As the weather warms up, activities will begin to pick up, as will members' efforts at getting the Club ready for the season and preparing themselves for exciting socials and great sailing. It is this effort that we all put into the Club that builds on our dynamic environment at FBYC and that helps us all feel more connected and make new friends. The Board is looking at ways to broaden member participation and volunteer opportunities to support the great environment at FBYC.
To further develop and raise awareness of members' opportunities to help with Club activities and events, the Board is looking for someone interested …

Can we burn a few socks and drink some Dark 'n Stormies at your home?
Our Annual Bermuda High Party is the perfect way to cast off winter and plan for the 2020 sailing season. It is traditionally held in the Richmond area where we rekindle friendships and introduce potential new members to FBYC.
We've got the date--Saturday, March 14 2020--but need a "host home." All you need to do is open your door to some happy sailors and we'll do all the rest: Set-up, Food and Drinks, Music and Clean-up.
Can you either offer your home as a location or help with the party details?
Please drop Jerry Latell, our Winter Program Chair, an email at …

Happy New Year to all our members, Deltaville friends and Chesapeake sailors everywhere. While we all take stock of 2019 and plan ahead for this new year, we remain grateful for our relationships forged under sail and for the exquisite bit of beauty we call Fishing Bay Yacht Club.
Looking ahead we can look forward to some new initiatives designed to develop our sailing skills and attract new members:
But keep a sharp lookout for our established and successful programs:

For the past nine years, many FBYC members have relied on the folks at Cafe By The Bay for breakfasts, lunches and welcoming smiles. When we learned owners Debbie Wilhelm and Susan Smith were selling their business, many sailors were wondering where we would grab a great sandwich. 7 Eleven perhaps? Well, perhaps no.
But the good news is that new owners will reopen after the first of the year. And the goodwill that Debbie and Susan created all this time will continue. The ladies say thank you to everyone at Fishing Bay, who were first customers and then friends, for supporting their business. Their last day open will be Dec. 20 so if you are in town, be sure …

WOW!
More than 185 members and guests celebrated all that FBYC is at our season's-end Commadore's Ball last Saturday night. Our annual meeting highlighted the strong financial position we've maintained and welcomed our new Flag. The awards presentations showcased the accomplishments of our juniors and "older" racers and cruisers. And everyone enjoyed an awesome night of great food, fantastic live music and the shared love of sailing with dear friends. Our new venue, Richmond's Hippodrome Theater, was superb and many stayed 'til closing time dancing to the Jangling Reinhardts.
A special thank you to Mike and MJ Toms and Brynn Moody for helping at registration and David Hinkle for producing our front entrance poster. And a huge shout-out to Social …
