Thankfully the winds will settle down this week! The Club fared well after yet another Winter storm this March and we have no structure or grounds damage to report. Please visit your on-site boats to inspect for damages just in case.

Spring is here (hopefully) and the new racing season is almost here. Please check your boat stored on-site and make sure it is ready and complies with FBYC rules for land storage. You can find the full list of Club rules by clicking here.A few basic rules are listed below:
Boats and/or trailers left on the Club grounds longer than 10 days without authorization will be billed a minimum of six months storage.
All boats stored on-site shall be kept shipshape with spars secured, covers tied down, halyards and gear properly secured or stored, and no parts lying on the ground.
Covers shall be made to fit the boat and tarpaulins are not allowed.
In spite of what you may see on the FBYC website, registration for the Bermuda High Party is OPEN and has been EXTENDED to Friday March 23, at 9am. Please register online by Friday at 9am so we can give our caterer an accurate headcount. You won’t want to miss this! Veronica and David Hinckle have opened their lovely home to us. We can at least pretend it is warm out, right? We’d love to see all of our friends at the party!

Fishing Bay Yacht Club has been selected as the host of the 2018 Laser Masters Atlantic Coast Championship Regatta – October 13-14. FBYC has been running a Laser Masters regatta annually since 1981 and the 37th edition will be the 6th time as host of the Masters Atlantic Coast Championship. FBYC regularly attracts sailors from across the mid-Atlantic from Florida to Canada and has included past world and regional champions.
Last year’s edition featured 44 sailors with FBYC’s Len Guenther and Charlie Brewer finishing in the top 10.
Len, Charlie, Jon, Frank, Mike, Ron, Alain and the rest of the FBYC Laser fleet are looking forward to hosting again in 2018 with Rick Klein serving as PRO …

The 2018 Year Book has gone to press and should be in the mail in 10 days or so. The production process went extremely well this year, with only a few growing pain delays. The book content was created using our new Content Management System for the first time. The Division Commanders, Jim Raper, Caroline Garrett, John Galloway and Mark Wensell, report the process of creating and editing the Event Sailing Instructions was easy and painless.
Our new Executive Secretary Donna Mason did a great job working on the Membership Roster and Yacht Register database. Her job is helped materially by the Member’s prompt return of the Member Data Sheets, which provide her information to keep the member database …

We have received some constructive feedback to the newly circulated lease provision banning the use of space heaters at the yacht club docks. In light of that feedback, we have done some additional review and believe that the new lease restriction and related rules should be relaxed to address the concerns expressed by a number of slip holders.
Safety is our concern, but we recognize that each slip holder is ultimately responsible for the selection and proper use of equipment on board boats docked at the Club’s facilities. Accordingly, the Board has approved the adoption of a new Club Rule that will have the effect of nullifying the lease restriction on the use of space heaters and similar devices …
Demolition of the old east dock is complete & the new floating dock is being assembled. Feel free to stop by the Club to see the progress but mind the muddy grounds and be careful to avoid the construction site, dock sections in slips, and the Dry Sail Lot staging area.
We will be replacing the bathhouse roof this Spring. Stay tuned for updates on these projects.
