There is nothing, half as much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.....with a group of women, that is!
Come and join your fellow FBYC women sailors in our "Second Annual Women Only Sailing Weekend" September 23-24, 2017. We will hope to call up the same great food, fantastic weather and inspiring companionship that magically came together last fall. But even if the weather is less than ideal, we still will have a wonderful weekend, sharing stories and learning how to become even more confident women who sail.
Right now we have three skippers who can take about eight additional women. We would LOVE to have another woman or two who is …
There are currently 53 entries for this annual event with three points of origin. The southern leg starts at the mouth of the Piankatank and concludes 46.2 miles later in St. Mary's river at St. Mary's college. There are overnight facilities available at the college that can be explored here http://www.cvent.com/d/95qflr/4W and the social, party and catering is a first class affair.
Look who is making One Design great again! Last month, while competing at the Flying Scot Nationals in Sandusky, Ohio, John Wake sailed as crew for John Aras of Annapolis. They ended the regatta in an astonishing fifth position. Meanwhile, at the same event with 68 boats competing, husband and wife team, Len and Barb Guenther, finished in twelfth spot. Well done team FBYC! It looks like One Design is already great!
On another note, more recently, a number of sailors have been concerned about boats rushing in to the mark roundings at the last second and hacking into boats. This Rushin’ Hacking, as it is called, is of grave concern and threatens the foundation of our program. For …

Any member can now post news articles and in fact we encourage it. Tell us about your sailing adventures or give everybody a report of a FBYC sailing event. If you make a mistake in the posting, ask Brian or Strother to edit it for you.

The Wee Dram will again venture to Cape Charles, VA on August 12th…their slips are a confirmed 18’ depth. We have reserved ‘C’ dock at the Town Harbor and if we should need more slips, those are available. https://www.capecharlesharbor.com/facilities/
This remains a casual cruise/race format with a formal (shorts and tee shirts – no holes) social Saturday afternoon in Cap Charles.
To emphasize the cruising aspect of the ‘getting there’, and to assure a worthy recipient of the 2017 Wee Dram burgee, each boat will submit two scavenger hunt tickets naming items typically found on a proper cruising vessel…i.e. in-boom furling, electric winch, a third anchor, water maker, microwave, rail mounted grill, dingy …

For example https://new.fbyc.net/pages/club/ now shows what formerly was seen at https://www.fbyc.net/Club/A/ This week I have copied the content on many other pages linked on the blue nav bar and created pages on the new …

The first thing we need to do is drain the swamp. That’s right drain the swamp! We have the third race in the Spring Series coming up this Saturday and we’re looking for a good showing.
Noel Clinard is the PRO and he has a great day planned for us. So all you One Design boat owners get out there and drain the swamp that has built up in your boats from sitting all winter and come on out and race. Show the good old boys how to do it.
After the racing, stop by for a first class social being arranged by Abigail Whorley. So drain the swamp and make One …
