This past winter, PHRF delegates from each club voted and instructed the PHRF Handicappers Board to issue 2017 PHRF ChesBay certificates with ratings for Windward/Leeward and for Circular Random (Random Leg) formats. You will notice on your certificate that there are two ratings: RATING (Spin/NonSpin) and CR Course RATING (Spin/NonSpin).
Fishing Bay amended its online registration to require an entry for each format, and for each rating (4 numbers) in ###/### format, matching the PHRF certificate. 2016 certificates were issued with both ratings, but the actual CR (random leg) rating may be amended for the 2017 certificates based on the handicappers' work during the off-season.
The Opening Day event is now open for registration. …

Just in time for sailing season, The Corps of Engineers has done another survey of Jackson Creek Entrance and published it today. Previous was 9/1/16 this latest done just last month on 2/8/17. Looks like the channel is more uniformly wide and 8 or more deep. These last two surveys are color coded and lots easier to read and compare. All recent surveys and condition reports are available with the link.
New survey information has been added to ESDS.

At long last, we have a new header on the top of https://new.fbyc.net that is colorful and responds to mobile devices. The top of the page will have a blue bar, with a burgee on the left, and a “hamburger” icon on the right. Click on the icon and it opens the navigation menu - seen in second image.

There aren’t many things to look forward to in getting old – but Laser Masters sailing is definitely one of them. This was my first time sailing Florida Laser Masters week having just qualified a few months ago. The week consists of 3 events – Florida Masters in West Palm, Masters Midweek Madness in Sarasota and Masters Midwinters in Tampa. For over a decade now I’ve been running the Chesapeake Bay Laser Masters Regatta at Fishing Bay Yacht Club and so I was familiar with masters sailing in general. I’ve also traveled to numerous ILCA-NA events from ACC to Nationals to North Americans and was eager to try out Masters week. Unfortunately, my schedule would …
Few sporting events inspire us as much as the Olympics, and few international sailing events thrill as much as the Volvo Ocean Race. On March 29th, you will have an opportunity to hear from a sailor that has competed in both – carrying two-time US Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year after her name. Her racing accomplishments both onshore and offshore make her a force to be reckoned …
